Over the River and Through the Woods

By Claire
After a day of lounging around, meeting other campers and enjoying an evening visit with new friends, Kees and Lianne from Holland, we decided to ride into the village of Lofer for some grocery shopping today. Did you know we have an onsite castle?

Grubhof Schloss

Down the path, through the campground and over the bridge we went.

There are wonderful walking and biking trails all over this area. Naturally we got a little lost but we managed to find all 3 supermarkets—that’s right, THREE supermarkets in a town of 1,100 people. It seem like a fairly upscale town with beautiful, large homes and everything is pristine.

It’s friendly and the supermarkets are the size we used to know before Costco and Walmart came on the scene—fresh organic produce (called Bio here) with plenty of selection and a nice bakery. They even have a wheel placed in a garden identifying the herbs and telling you what they can do for you. It’s all in German so I’m assuming here but it showed a human body and highlighted the organs.

We managed to find our way back.

Oh what should we do now?
